Orchestra 101

MAR 4, 2020 / 6:30 PM

A major obstacle in classical music participation is the fear of the unknown. Where do I sit? When do I clap? What instrument is that? Who is that human waving his or her arms? Orchestra 101 will be a light-hearted way to resolve some of these uncertainties! Attendees will even get a sneak peek at the orchestra in rehearsal.

Relax in our mid-century themed lounge with free admission. Cash bar and menu available. Doors open at 6 pm.

SPECIAL COLLABORATION! Broadway conductor Richard Carsey leads the MSO, the Choirs of the Center and members from Center Stage Theatre in this performance of the popular Rodgers and Hammerstein score that includes “If I Loved You,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” and “June is Bustin’ Out All Over. More details and video.

The season finale starts with MSO principal clarinet, Sam Martin, playing Mozart’s famed concerto. Concluding the evening, the symphony performs Shostakovich’s massive symphonic work written after the Nazi’s 1941 invasion of Russia and featuring nearly 100 musicians, making it one of the largest works ever performed by the Midland Symphony Orchestra. It is a spectacle not to be missed! More details and video.
