Jacob Huss Returns to Midland County Historical Society

The Midland Center for the Arts recently announced Jacob Huss as the new Historical Programs and Exhibitions Manager. Jacob was formerly the Assistant Curator for the Midland County Historical Society and a Museum Generalist for the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science and Art.

Huss replaces Gary Skory, former director of the historical society, which is a function of the Center for the Arts. “I am excited to be back at the Center because there is no better venue or team to help show why the people of Midland County and the larger Great Lakes Bay Region are worth celebrating whether through history, art, or performance,” said Huss.

Jacob brings a wealth of experience both nationally and locally to the Center having also worked at the National Museum of American History, and as the Development Coordinator for the American Kidney Fund. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saginaw Valley State University along with a Master of Arts degree from Central Michigan University in history.

“We are grateful to have someone like Jake in this role, bringing passion, excitement and a great deal of experience to the historical society and our programs here in Midland County,” said President and CEO Terri Trotter.  “Jake’s previous work with the Historical Society and our long-time Director Gary Skory, plus his extensive experience since that time, make him a great fit for our community.”

The community is invited to a welcome reception at the Doan History Center on Monday, Dec. 9, 4 – 6 p.m. to meet and welcome Jake to his new role. Guests can speak with members of the Midland County Historical Society Advisory Council and hear about new programming taking shape to bring Midland’s history to life. Light refreshments will be served with ongoing tours of the historic Bradley Home, decorated for the Bradley Home Holidays featuring Blue’s Christmas Village.
